Fish-Head and the Bones

The beginning

Starting at around age 20, Diego a.k.a Fish, began his music journey with the band Mercury Rose playing an arrange of covers and just a few originals.  After the band split up he and the bassist began their own original project, The Velvet Stripes Company. But after several life events, bunch of shows played and just overall growing up, Fish was looking to form his own band. During the spring of 2022 he got together with Logan Taylor of Lola Blu and Jacob Heffner of Heff & the E-Boys and formed the beginning of what would be Fish-Head and the Bones. They made their debut at Texas Lounge on the south side of Rockford. After playing together in basement house shows, rad local venues and even opening up for Saving Abel at the District, there were significant changes to the band. Under mutual circumstances, Logan Taylor joined the popular band Lola Blu and Heff decided to take a hiatus from playing live. Even though Heff and Logan are not with us anymore their musicianship skills, creativity and precision helped start the engine of what is Fish-Head & the Bones.

New Era

After Logan left the band Fish called up Adil and recruited his incredible talent. During this time Adil was not playing with his previous band, Throwswitch, so the timing was perfect for Fish and Adil to team up. After all, Fish has been trying to get Adil in a band with him for a while. The two met at a battle of the bands back in 2019 where they became friends and jammed with each other ever since. The ability of Fish and Adil to improvise and jam with each other is unique with each of them having similar, yet different tastes in music. At times they even trade off the bass and the guitar. After Heff left FH&TB brought in Adil's little brother, Ali. Now the new era of FH&TB has begun. With Ali's upbeat and intense energy, Fish and Adil's masterwork on the strings, and the nifty blend of the voices and instruments, each FH&TB show is sure to bring an exclusive and magnetic experience! Stay tuned for an upcoming album!!

Year 3

We enter year 3 of FH&TB, and a new bone has emerged in the band! Ian Patrick took the reins on the bass guitar in June of 2025, and the band has taken off running. Adil and Diego have talked about adding a fourth member on the bass guitar to hone in on their primary instrument, their six-string battle axe. Getting inspiration from Kyle, lead guitarist of Super Brick, after he told Diego that adding another guitar makes the music feel fuller and thicker, Adil and Diego asked Ian if he wanted to tag along on the ride. Ian Patrick plays bass for the band Lambretta and is a multi-instrumentalist and producer, making music of his own. He adds the right amount of salt and pepper to the pot that's cooking. With Ali's thunderous drums and Ian's holding it down with the groovy basslines, Adil and Diego are locked with both guitar and voice. This new formation of the band delivers a bigger, heavier, and tighter sound, meanwhile still bringing the funk or even love ballads. With multiple multi-instrumentalists and artists in one band, the boys have started to create a newer, updated sound that glues all of the members' influences together to make something of its own.  For now, they will finish what they started....
